Colorado Assisted Reproduction AttorneyRepresenting Intended Parents, Surrogate mothers and Egg Donors Reproductive technology has come a long way in the last decade. Couples and individuals who may have been unable to have children before are now faced with a myriad of options when considering how to build their families.
At the Law Office of Seth Grob in Evergreen, Colorado, we understand the complexities of these issues on both the personal, human level as well as the legal matters involved in infertility law. Helping to Build FamiliesPlease contact us to discuss your surrogacy and reproductive options with an insightful and experienced assisted reproduction attorney. Mr. Grob is a Fellow of the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys. We will work with and advise all parties involved regarding the legal and financial implications of these various arrangements, including traditional surrogacy, gestational surrogacy, semen donation, ova donation and embryo donation. We have represented intended parents, gestational carriers, surrogate mothers, egg donors and egg donation agencies. We represent clients located across the United States and abroad. We have represented many international clients, including, but not limited to, those living in Australia, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain and the Philippines. For international clients, we also offer specialized services to expedite the child's birth certificate and processing of the United States passport such that the family can return home expeditiously following the child's birth. There are a number of questions that must be addressed by all parties when considering the various assisted reproduction arrangements, including: Whose insurance will pay for the medical costs involved? We will do a thorough evaluation of health related issues and provide referrals to appropriate health insurance carriers that are willing to pay for the prenatal care and delivery for the surrogate mother in this arrangement. Who will be recognized as the legal parent of this child? We will perform the court work necessary to establish parental rights by obtaining a legal declaration of parentage. In many situations, this can be done while the child is still in the womb. We will evaluate your precise situation and help provide the guidance as to the timing as to when it is best to proceed in court and establish parental rights. What are the monetary obligations and legal responsibilities of each party? The rights and responsibilities of each party must be set forth in an individualized and detailed contract whereby all parties come to an agreement. You can count on us to ensure this is done properly, leaving no question as to the intent of each party in relation to these legal matters and minimizing the risk of future conflicts arising. We will work with and advise all parties involved regarding the legal and financial implications of these various arrangements, including: - Traditional surrogacy – artificial insemination using surrogate’s eggs and semen from intended father or from a donor
- Gestational surrogacy – utilizes in-vitro fertilization where a non-biologically related embryo is medically implanted in the surrogate’s uterus. Intended parents can have a child that is genetically related to them, using the intended mother’s egg and intended father’s sperm or alternatively a child that is genetically related to only either the intended mother or intended father.
- Semen donation - sperm donated by a man with the intention that it be used to achieve a pregnancy in a woman who is not the man's sexual partner
- Ova donation - the process by which a woman donates her eggs for purposes of assisted reproduction
- Embryo donation - semen and egg material from an outside source are donated for the goal of producing a successful pregnancy for the recipients.
